Completing some relevant work experience placements, while still at school, can offer a host of benefits that help students discover and get started in their future career faster.

GSK Virtual Work Experience
Registration is now open for the GSK Virtual Work Experience event.
When? Monday 30th May to Thursday 2nd June 2022.
Who? Students in Year 10 to 13
What does this involve?
GSK’s Virtual Work Experience will allow students to:
Learn about how GSK takes products from molecules to market
- Take part in virtual team building exercises to develop their skills
- Learn about different career opportunities across Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths.
- Gain job application hints and tips
- Gain an industry-accredited Bronze Industrial Cadets Award.
How to apply:
Please find the link to the student sign-up survey: GSK Virtual Work Experience. The survey can be used by internal or external users. We encourage students to apply as soon as possible as registration may close early, depending on the number of applications we receive.

Pathways to Property Open Online Course (OOC)
This OOC is a three week, free, online course designed by leading academics at Henley Business School to excite young people about a career in property and signpost them to resources that can support them while making the step into the industry. This course is designed for students in Year 9 and upwards and can be completed in their own time, requiring only 6 hours of study across the three weeks.

Pathways to Property Summer School for Year 12
Opportunity for Year 12 students to attend a fully funded Pathways to Property Summer School.
Now in its tenth year, the Summer School is a fully funded, 4 day residential programme at the University of Reading’s Henley Business School for Year 12 students.
During the week, students will attend taster lectures, go on site visits, take part in a group project and debate, learn to network with key employers in the industry and experience life on a University campus.
All individuals will be provided free accommodation and food and their travel expenses to Reading will be covered.
At the end of the week, if they are keen to learn more about property they can complete a funded work experience placement over October half term, have access to our e-mentoring programme, and if they choose to apply to study a property related degree at University, they can apply for a bursary of up to £30,000 over three years.

Virtual Employer Encounters
Hertfordshire Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal (HOP) have launched a new series of regular webinars featuring interviews with local employers.
The live sessions run weekly during term time and cover a range of careers.

Veterinary BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) scholarship scheme for Veterinary Studies
IVC Evidensia, one of Europe’s largest veterinary groups, have launched a BAME Scholarship Scheme to support students with financial assistance, mentoring, placements and the opportunity to apply to their graduate entry programme.

NHS E-Placements
For students aged 14 and above, the NHS Talent Academy have launched bespoke e-placements covering various career opportunities within health and care.
The E-Placements will provide you with an insight into your chosen career path through a series of videos, tutorials, quizzes and virtual tours. It will also help to develop a greater understanding of knowledge, skills and behaviours required for your chosen profession.
