Verulam School is a high-achieving, 11-18 all boys’ school, that operates a mixed Sixth Form. We are our own admitting authority but Hertfordshire LA manages the transfer and entry to Verulam School on our behalf.
This part of our website deals with how you can apply to join Year 7 Verulam School in September 2025. Applications for Year 7 secondary school places to start in September 2025 are now live via Hertfordshire County Council here.
Key dates for admission to Year 7 in September 2025
2nd September 2024 – Online application system opens
1st October 2024 – Verulam School Open Evening
3rd, 4th, 7th & 8th October 2024 – Open Morning Tours
31st October 2024 – Deadline to apply for a school place
3rd March 2025 – National Allocation Day
17th March 2025 – Deadline for accepting secondary school place offered
Open Evening – 1st October 2024
We are looking forward to welcoming you to Open Evening 2024 on Tuesday 1st October from 5pm – 8.30pm.
In addition to touring the school accompanied by our wonderful student guides, there will be three opportunities for prospective students and their families to hear our Headteacher’s speech at 5.30pm, 6.30pm and 7.30pm. There will be a small number of tickets available on the evening but where possible we do recommend booking in advance via the form below to ensure availability of your preferred time. Please note that there will be no tours of the school after the last speech. If you are would like to attend the last speech please try to tour the school before the speech begins.
A copy of your responses will be emailed to you when you submit the form and we request that you please bring this email with you on Open Evening to gain entry to the timeslot requested.
There is no need to book for Open Evening if you do not wish to attend the Headteacher’s Speech.
Open Morning Tours – 3rd, 4th, 7th, 8th, 9th and 11th October 2024
Due to overwhelming demand for tours we have now added two additional tour dates on 9th and 11th October.
Open Morning Tours are a great opportunity to experience Verulam on a normal school day. All tours will begin at 9am and last approximately 45 minutes.

Where we have space, we can occasionally accept students joining part way through the year, outside of the annual Secondary Transfer process. Find out more about applying for a place mid-year.
