Head’s News – 17th January
University Applications
The UCAS university application deadline passed this week and I am delighted that the Upper Sixth are receiving very positive offers including two from Oxbridge. Other Upper Sixth students are pursuing non-university courses and apprenticeship pathways.
Sixth Form Open Evening
We welcomed Year 11 students and a large number of external candidates to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday.
Students and parents were able to listen to a variety of subject presentations as well as an introduction to the Sixth Form from Mr Base and Mr Emsley.
I have already interviewed the vast majority of Year 11 regarding their Post 16 choices and will conclude the few remaining interviews next week. I am more than happy to meet any parent who wishes to discuss their son’s future at Year 11 Parents’ Evening on Thursday 23rd January. If you would like to make an appointment to see me, please contact my PA Ms Kelly Bonass on kelly.bonass@verulam.herts.sch.uk.
We are hosting an Open Morning for external candidates on Tuesday 21st January at 9.15am. If you know anyone who would be interested in joining our Sixth Form, please ask them to contact our Sixth Form Administrator, Mrs A Harding on amanda.harding@verulam.herts.sch.uk or by phoning 01727 766100.
Student Surveys
The student survey was distributed to all pupils during registration this afternoon. I have posted a reminder for students to complete this on ShowMyHomeWork but I would be grateful if parents could encourage their sons or daughters to complete this short survey over the weekend and return to their form tutor on Monday morning.
Uniform Reminder
A small number of pupils are not yet adhering to the School’s uniform policy. Could I remind parents that white socks are not permitted and that only grey V neck jumpers should be worn.
