The Art department was delighted to welcome guests from Curwen Print Study Centre this week to support Year 10 with their GCSE Art Coursework Enhancement.
Students had the opportunity to try their hand at lino cutting and mono printing. This was a fantastic opportunity for students to build on their portfolio work and learn techniques which they can now apply to our newly acquired Gem Press.
The Curwen Studio is a printmaker and publisher of fine art lithographic prints.  With the emergence of artists’ original prints as publications in their own right, the Curwen Studio was used by artists including Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Graham Sutherland, Elisabeth Frink and John Piper to produce many important and recognisable prints.
The Studio continues to work with leading contemporary artists, publishers and museums from around the world and our students had the opportunity to use the studios’ professional printmaking equipment and specialist materials under the guidance of expert printmaking artists to create some wonderful pieces.
