Verulam A-Level and BTEC Results – 18th August 2020 Update
I am sure many students, parents, staff and governors will have been following the dramatic news regarding changes to A-Level results.
The decision to use the algorithm to moderate Centre Assessed Grades reduced the average point score of over 70 of our students and approximately the same number would have pursued appeals based on trial examination results.
I am glad to say that the government’s U-turn has meant that results have shown a significant improvement.
We have republished our Centre Assessed Grades to students and have advised them that they are entitled to use the highest of the grades awarded from the results published last Thursday or our original Centre Assessed Grades.
We are still awaiting confirmation of how BTEC results may be affected.
There is now no longer a route to appeal based on trial examination grades.
The current situation is below:
Overall | Original Results | Targets Total | Final Results |
Overall APS Per Pupil | 106.58 | 121.94 | 118.62 |
Overall APS Per Entry | 32.56 | 35.45 | 35.81 |
Overall Avg Grade Per Entry | C+ | B- | B- |
We are continuing to support those students who are applying for university places.
P A Ramsey,
Headmaster
