Hertfordshire Opportunities Portal (HOP)
We work closely with HOP to keep up to date with all the latest training and employment opportunities in Hertfordshire. The HOP website offers a very wide range of information about career path options, work experience, skills development and professional qualification programmes. There is a live directory of courses, apprenticeships and job vacancies across a wide range of sectors in the area. Click here to access.
HOP also runs a series of regular live webinars with local employers. Sessions run weekly during term time and cover a range of careers.  We will advertise the sessions on this page and you can browse the full series of previous webinars here.

Springpod is an excellent online resource to help students find virtual work experience programmes.
Completing some relevant work experience placements, while still at school, can offer a host of benefits that help students discover and get started in their future career faster.
Students can use SpringPod to browse a whole catalogue of virtual work experience placements, delivered by a range of well-known companies and professional bodies.

Current Apprenticeship Vacancies
Apprenticeships combine practical training in a job with study.
As an apprentice you’ll:
- be an employee earning a wage and getting holiday pay
- work alongside experienced staff
- gain job-specific skills
- get time for training and study related to your role (at least 20% of your normal working hours)
Apprenticeships take 1 to 5 years to complete depending on their level.
To start an apprenticeship, you’ll need to be 16 or over.

Weekend Career Experiences
You can now register for our spring term career opportunities, which are available in 18 cutting-edge industries.
Students will learn directly from some of the UK’s best professionals – doctors, forensic scientists, architects, MPs, filmmakers, engineers and more – through a series of live, interactive simulations which provide tailor-made, professional experience for ages 12-18.
Students can choose to attend either at UCL or live online.

ICAEW Chartered Accountancy Skills Sessions
For those interested in becoming a Chartered Accountant, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, ICAEW, are running free skills sessions which include:
- Expert from ICAEW talking to students about school leaver, apprenticeship, work experience, and graduate opportunities.
- Trainee and qualified Accountants sharing their stories about their career, giving some top tips for success.
- Q&A sessions with local employers offering school leaver and graduate opportunities.
- Hearing about recruitment opportunities for students interested in early careers opportunities.

The Soaring to Success® Programme – Careers within Aviation and Aerospace.
With the support of the William Gibbs Trust, the Air League offers free access to the e-learning component of the Soaring to Success® programme. The programme encourages young people to consider a career within aviation and aerospace and demonstrates the breadth of opportunities available within the industry.
The e-learning careers enrichment courses offer an insight into:
- Airline Operations and Customer Service with British Airways
- Cyber Security with the Civil Aviation Authority
- Drones and Remotely Piloted Systems with Eagle Eye Innovations
- Cockpit Design with BAE Systems
- Pilot Training with Bristol Ground School
Each module contains interactive elements, a short knowledge check assessment and a brief feedback form.

Join Hertfordshire Police
Get on the job training to become a police officer while gaining a fully funded degree or diploma, with training delivered in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).
Pathways to Property Open Online Course (OOC)
This OOC is a three week, free, online course designed by leading academics at Henley Business School to excite young people about a career in property and signpost them to resources that can support them while making the step into the industry. This course is designed for students in Year 9 and upwards and can be completed in their own time, requiring only 6 hours of study across the three weeks.

Veterinary BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic) scholarship scheme for Veterinary Studies
IVC Evidensia, one of Europe’s largest veterinary groups, have launched a BAME Scholarship Scheme to support students with financial assistance, mentoring, placements and the opportunity to apply to their graduate entry programme.

NHS E-Placements
For students aged 14 and above, the NHS Talent Academy have launched bespoke e-placements covering various career opportunities within health and care.
The E-Placements will provide you with an insight into your chosen career path through a series of videos, tutorials, quizzes and virtual tours. It will also help to develop a greater understanding of knowledge, skills and behaviours required for your chosen profession.
