Google Classroom email summaries (for parents/carers/guardians)
Google Classroom email summaries (for parents/carers/guardians) allow parents/carers to receive regular email updates about their son’s progress in Google Classroom. These summaries include information on upcoming assignments, completed work and teacher announcements.
Steps to get started with Google Classroom email summaries (for parents/carers/guardians)
Step 1: Receive an Email Invitation:
You would have already received an email invitation from Google Classroom this academic year. Please check your inbox for this email, including your junk folder. This email is sent from Google Classroom – no-reply@classroom.google.com. An example of what the email looks like is below.

Step 2: Click “Accept Invite” and then choose the right email account:
After accepting the invitation, ensure you are logged into the account you want to use to receive updates – click ‘Switch Account’ to change. Please note: you may need to open this email on a laptop/PC monitor as sometimes the button does not appear on the email on a mobile phone. A screenshot of this is below

Step 3: Accept the Guardian Invitation:
Open the email and click “Accept”. If you have multiple children at Verulam, you will receive individual invitations for each. Choose “weekly”. Once you accept the invitation, you will start receiving weekly email summaries with an overview of your child’s assignments and class activity. You do not have to confirm anything once you have chosen, just close the browser. Please see a screen shot of this below:

Step 4: Supporting Accountability
The summaries will inform you of any missing or completed assignments, upcoming due dates and classroom announcements, enabling you to monitor your child’s academic progress. By reviewing these updates, you can help ensure your child stays on track with their assignments. Encouraging them to complete tasks on time will help build strong home learning habits. Over time, this consistent support will help foster better time management, accountability and self-discipline with their studies.
Please note that items uploaded as “material” by a teacher will not be included in the summary – these are usually lesson material. Upcoming work with due dates will be set by teachers as “assignments” and may be considered to be home learning. Please also note that when an assignment is “handed-in” by the student, feedback may not be provided on the digital platform. Please look in your child's exercise book or folder for more information.
