Parent Communication
We aim to work in partnership with all our families to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children. To achieve this aim, we use a variety of communication methods to keep you in touch with what is going on. And of course, we are only ever a phone call away.
My Child at School (MCAS)
MCAS is a portal enabling you to view your child’s academic performance in real-time via a web browser. It provides you with access to your son’s Timetable, Attendance, Assessment Reports and Behaviour Information. It is also the place to make payments for trips, load money onto your child's account for food and purchase other items.
At the start of the academic year, Year 7 parents will receive two emails: one email containing login information and another one with an explanation as to how to navigate MCAS. It is a vital tool for parents to keep informed of their son’s school record. As it uses the email address we have for you on our system, it is imperative that you inform the school of any change of email address. Please inform us of any changes via admin@verulam.aetrust.uk If your child is going to be absent, please call the absence line on 01727 754101.

Google Guardian Summaries
As a guardian, you can get email summaries about your student’s activity in Classroom. Email summaries do not include grades. For grades, you can access the termly assessment data on My Child at School. There will also be marked work in exercise books or folders for most subjects, or contact your child's teacher if you have a query.
In email summaries, you can review:
- Missing work—Work not turned in when the summary was sent.
- Upcoming work—Work that’s due today and tomorrow (for daily emails) or that’s due in the upcoming week (for weekly emails).
- Class activities—Announcements, assignments, and questions recently posted by teachers.
If there’s no activity to report or if a teacher turns off email notifications, you might not get an email summary.
Note that we use the Sparx system in Maths, English and Science, so assignments set on these platforms will not necessarily show on Google Classroom.
Please see the below summary for how to accept the classroom invite and use the system.
