Latest news from the PTA

Movie Night Success: Thanks to everyone who attended and to Jenn for organising PTA refreshments of popcorn and drinks for the Movie night this Wednesday. The PTA raised over £90 to add to donations to the Royal British Legion poppy appeal.

Raising funds from unwanted uniform/clothing: If you had a clear out over the holidays, or plan to have one over the next few weeks, we can put your out-grown uniform and unwanted items of clothing to good use:

Second Hand uniform sale – tomorrow Saturday 10th November : We will be holding a second hand uniform sale tomorrow from 10.30-11.30 in the school dining hall. Come along and stock up on jumpers for the cold weather and/or donate any out-grown good quality uniform either during the sale, or at reception anytime.

Happy School Bag – unwanted non-uniform clothing collection Friday 14th December: Happy School Bag raises funds for the school while helping the environment and disadvantaged people to afford clothes by keeping valuable reusable resources out of landfill. All you need to do is fill plastic bags with the following items and bring them into school on the morning of 14th December (further details to follow), where the bags will be collected, weighed and the school paid 60 pence per kilo. Happy School Bags accept the following items:

Clean and dry adults’ and children’s clothing
Reusable paired shoes and trainers
Handbags, Belts, hats & accessories
Bed linen, towels and soft toys
Jewellery, toiletries and perfumes
Console games

Christmas Shopping? If you’ve started thinking ahead to Christmas, there are a couple of ways to support the PTA while you shop online or locally:

Chloe James Fundraiser – Friday 23rd November: On Friday 23 November from 12:30 – 2:30pm Chloe James ( if you don’t know it – a lovely boutique shop opposite Cote near the Clock Tower) will be hosting a Christmas shopping event for Verulam PTA. While we get ahead on our gift buying they will provide festive fizz and mince pies and will also donate 10% of everything purchased to the Verulam PTA. Thanks to Emily Kennedy for organising.

Easyfundraising: Every time you shop online using easyfundraising, the 3000 participating retailers donate a percentage of what you spend to Verulam School PTA to say thank you. It’s really simple, doesn’t cost you anything and there is an app to make it even easier. Just visit the PTA website at

https:// to sign up for free and start shopping.

Finally if you are interested in supporting the PTA please contact me at [email protected] and in the meantime we wish you all an enjoyable Half Term.
