Year 7 New Starters – September 2021
The Year 7 team would like to welcome students to Verulam School as they begin a new and exciting chapter in their lives. Year 7 is a crucial year for students to not only make a positive start to Verulam School, but also to their entire secondary school career.
The Year 7 team will work hard to make the transition process from primary to secondary school as smooth as possible. We are committed to providing students with a strong induction programme that strives to help them settle into life at Verulam. In this section, you will find reference information which will be useful whilst trying to navigate the next step in your son’s school career. This page will be updated with further information over the course of this term. Should you have any questions regarding transition, then please email email@example.com and a member of our team will get back to you.
I look forward to welcoming your son at Verulam in September.

Letters from Year 7
Below are letters our current year 7 students have written to welcome new starters joining the school.
We work in partnership with all our families to achieve the best possible outcomes for your children. To achieve this, we use a variety of communication methods to keep you in touch with what is going on.
Parentmail is used to send email communications to parents. Parentmail is a one-way communication system. If you want to contact the school via email, then please do so via firstname.lastname@example.org.
ParentPay is part of ParentMail and is a secure online payment service which allows parents and carers to make payments to the school using their debit/credit cards/Paypal account. Payments can include lunch payments, trips and visit payments, or music payments.
My Child at School (MCAS)
MCAS is a portal enabling you to view your child’s academic performance in real-time via a web browser. It provides you with access to your son’s Timetable, Attendance, Assessment Reports and Behaviour Information. At the start of the academic year, Year 7 Parents will receive two emails: one email containing login information and another one with an explanation as to how to navigate MCAS. It is a vital tool for parents to keep informed of their son’s school record.
Show My Homework
Show My Homework is an online tool for viewing and setting homework. Students will be taught how to access their homework using ‘Show My Homework’ as part of their induction. During the first week of term, all new students will be sent their log-in details. Parents and students are then able to access details of the homework, including deadlines, help sheets and lesson content.
