Year 7 CATs tests

On Wednesday and Friday next week, the new Year 7 students will sit their CATs tests.

Cognitive Abilities Tests (CATs) are used to assess a pupil’s ability in four different areas: verbal (thinking with words); quantitative (thinking with numbers); spatial (generating and transforming visual images) and non-verbal (thinking with shapes and space). CATs are used to give a snapshot of a child’s potential, what they could achieve and how they learn best. The results can help teachers to set the right learning pace for each child, monitor their progress and identify areas where they might need extra support.
