Verulam Remembers

As part of our commemoration of the centenary of the Armistice, Wednesday evening saw governors, students, parents, staff and friends of Verulam school join together to watch the showing of Peter Jackson’s critically acclaimed film ‘They shall not grow old’. Using material from the IWM and BBC archives, together with the latest film-making techniques, the film gave everyone a unique and moving impression of what it was like to be a British soldier on the Western Front during the Great War. The event was also the occasion for the Verulam community to remember two OVs, Michael Boden and Kenneth Nettleton, who sadly lost their lives during World War Two.

The film was shown in aid of the British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. The PTA, led by Mrs Caminsky, have kindly donated their profits from the evening. Therefore we are pleased to announce that the event has raised a total of £707.18p, which will be sent to the British Legion as soon as possible.

Thank you to everyone whose hard work and generosity have made this possible.
