Immunisations for Years 9 and 10

Following a change in the National Immunisations Schedule, immunisations for Diphtheria, Tetanus, Polio and Meningococcal ACWY vaccinations are now being administered to students in Year 9. To ensure that pupils currently in Year 10 do not miss these important immunisations, this academic year, the school nursing team will be immunising in both Years 9 and 10.

We will be forwarding a letter from Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust to you today which explains the process. Please be sure to open this letter and read it as it contains an electronic consent form which you will need to complete electronically and return directly to the Schools Health Immunisation Team. Vaccinations for Year 9 will take place on 25th January 2018 and for Year 10 these will take place on 23rd March 2018. It is vital you return your consent before 15th December 2017.
If you have any concerns, please contact the immunisation team on 01727 734026.

UKMT Maths Challenge

I would like to congratulate Year 13 students Danila Kurganov, Daniel Goldsmith, Lucas Horner and Andrew Shaw and wish them luck on reaching the next round of the UKMT Senior Maths challenge 2017 that they will be sitting today. Good luck boys!

Keeping Pupils Safe

As part of our ongoing work to keep all pupils safe, we have this week launched an anonymous email address [email protected] which pupils and parents can use to notify us of any concerns they may have.

New Lockers Arrive – thanks to the PTA

Thanks to Verulam PTA’s generous funding, 400 new lockers were installed in the Canteen Quad and Canteen this week.
Boys can use them when needed and, if they want to secure the locker ,they can bring their own padlock. Feedback from the School Council was that students do not need a locker for the whole year, but would rather use them on an ad hoc basis similar to the lockers used at a leisure centre. The lockers are slightly larger than the old lockers to give the boys more room to store bags and coats.

Can you help our pupils succeed in their exams?

We are currently recruiting for invigilators to play an essential role in our external examinations which take place in May and June next year.
Without the correct number of invigilators, examinations cannot take place. Both full and part time positions are available for next summer and full training is provided. Pay is currently £9.05 per hour. If you are interested, please contact Sue Armstrong, Exams Officer for a job description on 01727 370109 or email: [email protected]
