Old Verulamian Association

This evening, 17th November, nearly 200 old boys and girls of the school will be meeting together for the 56th Association Annual Dinner. I will be meeting pupils who attended the school under each of the previous four Headmasters including those who attended the school under the first Headmaster, RF Bradshaw whose tenure stretched an incredible 30 years from 1937 to 1967. Having only worked at the school since 2000, I feel a relative beginner!

This year, the school will be represented by 16 staff, our Head Girl, Greta Geller and Vice Captain Sam Healy. Greta and Sam have taken on the daunting task of presenting the after dinner speech to the guests but I know that they are more than capable of delivering. Parents may be interested to know that the school currently employs 10 Old Verulamian’s boys and girls!

Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols – Thursday, 7th December 2017

As is traditional, we will be holding our annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols this December. We are building on the success of the last eight years and again all music will be performed by the students of Verulam School.

The evening has an informal start from 6.30pm with a glass of warming mulled wine and a mince pie, whilst listening to Verulam’s musicians playing a medley of Christmas songs. As in previous years, the hall will be lit by candles as we create the atmosphere of a traditional carol service. The festival itself will run from 7pm – 8pm.

We very much hope that you will be able to join us for what has proved to be a popular evening. The ticket price is £5 per adult ticket (children and students free) which covers the cost of refreshments and a small donation to the charity Youth Talk.

A ParentMail has been sent with a reply slip which will need to be included with your cash or cheque (made payable to Verulam School) and returned to main school reception to ensure a seat (tickets will be sent home via your child) or alternatively you can buy tickets on the door. I look forward to seeing you all there.

Glitter Ball raises £8,300!

More than 150 guests enjoyed an evening of glitter, fabulous food and dancing at the Glitter Ball last Saturday night. A HUGE thank you to the many people who helped plan, organise, light up, entertain, set up, and clear up, after the event and to our fabulous Sixth Form student waiters who helped to make the evening a success. Thank you also to all our guests for supporting the event – we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you all and we hope to see you next time!
