FEED project

Mr Sykes has asked me to thank everyone who has been involved in Feed this year.

We are very grateful to all the students and staff who have donated, the students who helped count and pack items each morning and those who spread the message to the wider community. You have all made a huge difference.

The final total is now in and we have collected an all time record breaking 7181 items! Well done Verulam School!
We also like to thank Churchills Confectioners for their generous donation of biscuits which were much appreciated by the FEED project.

In the year competition I would like to congratulate Year 8 who generated a huge 3860 items which was an outstanding effort. Year 7 also deserve enormous credit for collecting 1039 which would have been a winning score in any previous year.

Open Day

Many thanks to all pupils, parents and staff who joined us last Saturday for our annual open day. The day was very successful and I have received numerous emails of congratulations from prospective parents. They were particularly impressed by the quality of our Year 7 guides.

Year 7 make a good start

I would like to congratulate Year 7 on the excellent start they have made to life at Verulam. Our Autumn term survey confirmed that they enjoy school and feel very safe. I was particularly delighted that 99% felt that they learnt a lot in lessons, made new friends and settled in well at Secondary School.

Headmaster’s Commendations

This week, I would like to recognise the time and effort that the following boys put in to helping us host the annual St Albans Schools’ District Badminton Tournament this week. They were excellent adverts for our school in terms of dress, punctuality, organisation and courtesy. The staff from neighbouring schools commented on how professional they were dealing with the younger competitors. Headmaster’s commendations therefore go to: James Lofts, Jed Lumb, Ben Campbell and Isaak Nathan.

Also I would like to award in Year 11 for the best achievement on the new French learning app, Memrise?

And finally to Gabriel Grundy who was the only student who achieved 100% in the computing test set last week.
