Art Collaboration

As part of the flagship exhibition First Impressions, the St Albans Museum’s team have joined up with Verulam School and Fleetville Junior School to celebrate the rich history of printing in the Fleetville district of St Albans.

90 Year 5 pupils from Fleetville Junior School have spent a week working with artist Laura Ellis to produce a collaborative tapestry of prints based on local architectural features in this former printing quarter. Their contemporary prints are now on display in Morrisons’ Café, the site of Fleet Works, the first printing factory in the area.
This exciting exhibition created by the pupils will evolve during the course of the next two weeks to feature large screen-prints created by Year 7 children from Verulam School.

Cycling

Whilst I am delighted that a growing number of pupils are choosing to cycle to school, I would be grateful if parents/carers could emphasise the following rules:

  • Cycling on pavements in the local area is not permitted
  • Cyclists should always wear helmets
  • Cyclists should always be courteous to other road users and take particular care of cars
  • Verulam pupils are not permitted to cycle in Morrisons’ car park

Equipment Check

The correct equipment is vital for success in lessons. I would therefore be grateful if parents/carers could check their son’s equipment this weekend to check that they have a calculator, rule and full pencil case.

Summer Uniform

I would like to clarify that boys should wear a tailored/ fitted summer shirt with badge or a shirt with tie. Blazers may be worn with both options.
Early closure notice

The school will be closing at 12.45pm on Friday 22nd June and Friday 6th July for the following events:

  • Upper Sixth Leavers’ Lunch; and
  • Lower Sixth Facing the Future conference
