News from Mr Ramsey

Examinations/May half-term revision

Year 11 students have made a good start to the GCSE examination season and will be joined next week by Year 10 who are also sitting GCSE English Literature. I would like to wish all Year 10 and 11 pupils a successful weekend of English Literature revision!

I would also like to remind parents that the school is making available numerous opportunities for GCSE and A Level revision over the May half term holiday. Full details have already been sent out by Mr Toley and Mr Freakley.

The Sixth Form Centre will also be open throughout the half term holiday for study and revision.

Headmaster’s commendations

I would like to congratulate the following Year 10 boys for their hard work in Art:
Tom Garrett for outstanding homework and attaining the extremely difficult level 9 and Marcus Raymond for outstanding effort with homework. I was most impressed by the pen drawings they undertook for GCSE coursework.

I would also like to commend Thomas Lees (10H) for his commitment to extra curricular drama. His most recent success involved performing in a radio play with other members of the Company of Ten at the Abbey Theatre.

The play was broadcast early April and is also planned to be performed at the Fighting Cocks Public House in October to coincide with the 100 year commemorations. A link to play is below: cocks.

Ukulele Club

We are very fortunate at present to benefit from the multi-talented Mr Moffat who is offering boys in all years an opportunity to learn the ukulele.
The ukulele club meets on Friday lunchtime in M1. No experience necessary, but a fun environment is guaranteed.

We have a number of vacancies for September in the Support and SEN departments in the school. These may be suitable for parents, relatives or young people who have recently finished a degree. Many graduates enjoy a first taste of life working in a school as a Cover Supervisor, LSA or technician and subsequently train to become teachers.

Vacancies available are:
Cover Supervisor, LSA and Science Technicians.
