Parent Governor Election

I am pleased to be able to announce the results of the recent election for parent governor.

Ian Caminsky

Nigel Gibbins

Brent Leyshon

Mr Ian Caminsky is therefore duly elected. It was very pleasing that we had three parents who were willing to stand for this important role. I would also like to thank all those who voted.

CIF bid

I was pleased to discover that our bid to the Government’s Condition Improvement Fund this year was successful. We have been granted £50,000 which we will be using to replace the fire escapes to the Science block and Modern Languages corridor. We hope this work will be undertaken during the summer holidays.

Exam Preparation

I had the pleasure of meeting Year 10 pupils who are entering the final phase of preparation for their GCSE English Literature exam this week. Public exams are now only a couple of weeks away and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all pupils in Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 best wishes for this year’s exam season.

The “phoney war” before exams commence is always a difficult time, but I would advise students that time dedicated to revision now pays off in the summer.

Cover Supervisor Vacancy

We are currently advertising for the role of Cover Supervisor. Cover Supervisors support learning when teaching staff are absent. They deliver pre-planned teaching materials and supervise pupils. Successful applicants would receive training and support in the role. Many Cover Supervisors use this post as a way of gaining experience before applying to train as a teacher or taking another role working with young people. If you are confident, articulate and effective at building positive relationships with young people, we are keen to hear from you. Education to A Level or Degree preferred. If you are interested, please contact Deputy Head, David Bullock for an informal discussion or via [email protected] for more information.

Finally, congratulations to Mrs Flint from the History Department who successfully completed the London Marathon on Sunday in just over 6 hours raising over £2,500 for the Teenage Cancer Trust. It was a very hard race, being the hottest on record so it was a just an achievement to finish!! Mrs Flint would like to thank students, parents and staff for all their donations.
