Mental Health – Feeling Good Week and Just Talk update

During the launch of the Just Talk campaign in January, all students from Years 7-10 had a lesson on Mental Health awareness about removing the stigma away from talking about mental health. Following on from this, we are excited to share with you the news that 2 Verulam students, out of the 7 students entered, have been shortlisted across Hertfordshire for the Just Talk film competition. Voting took place yesterday for the final winner and we will notify you in due course should a Verulam student be lucky enough to win this prestigious award.

This week we have focused on promoting positive emotional wellbeing as part of Feeling Good week. Highlights have been:

  • Excellent attendance and engagement at Ukulele Club run by Mr Moffatt
  • Calm and Mindful Colouring of Mandalas with Year 7, Mrs Harrison and Ms Howells – the Year 7s want to do this every day this week!
  • Enjoyable entertainment from the Simpsons over a packed lunch courtesy of Mr Bullock
  • Year 7 and Year 8 playlists including dancing boomerangs
  • Shout out messages in Bradshaw to peers and staff
  • Positive postcards in staff pigeonholes with some touching messages from pupils
  • Student designed canteen menu
  • Bake Off in T3 with Mrs Flint and Mrs Helliwell
  • Friday awards from pupils to teachers
