Marathon Success for Oli Mills Foundation

A huge congratulations to Mike Toley who successful ran the London Marathon course backwards to raise money and awareness for the Oli Mills Teenage Cancer Trust.

He and a group of friends started at 2am in the early hours of Sunday morning. From there, they began to run the route of the London Marathon in reverse, starting at The Mall and finishing, 26.2 miles later, in Blackheath, south east London.  The group eventually made it over the finish line just before 7am and it was quite emotional, especially for Eddie (Founder of the Oli Mills Foundation set up in memory of his brother, a former pupil at Verulam). One of the other runners in the group had gone out and got them all a medal with The Oli Mills Foundation Backward Marathon engraved on them and presented them to us at the finish line, which was the real marathon’s start line in Blackheath.

The Justgiving link have already raised £6k for this event, which puts the school’s contribution to the OMF at a figure of £50,000.  A big thank you to anyone who has sponsored us so far, however the Justgiving page is still open if anyone wishes to still donate.
