Help Verulam to become an ECO School

JAMES LOFTS – HEAD BOY

Reducing waste, improving sustainability and managing your own environmental footprint are all very topical and important issues in the 21st century. I am sure that everyone is conscientious at home to ensure plastic containers are recycled and the lights are not left on, but often at school or work it’s much easier to forget about these responsibilities.

This is why at Verulam we are launching our plan to become an Eco School. This will mean Verulam is consciously taking action to reduce its environmental impact and with the goal to gain the Green Flag award. To become an eco-school, an eco-committee must be set up, an environmental review and action plan implemented and awareness raised. More information about what it entails can be found at https://www.eco-schools.org.uk. To make this work we will need students from each year group of the school who are passionate and full of ideas about how to make the school greener and committed to attending a meeting at least once a half term.

There is a requirement for a parent to attend the meetings, if you are interested in joining the committee or can help our campaign in any way please contact Mrs Harding in the Sixth Form office. [email protected]
