The latest PTA News

The PTA will be serving refreshments to visitors and year 7 helpers in the Dining Hall at the Open Morning on Saturday 29th September. All money raised goes to the school to buy a variety of items for the boys. There are a couple of ways to help:

If you are able to donate a cake, muffins, cupcakes, donuts or cookies, then please leave these in school reception on Friday 28th September or take into the dining hall from 8.15am on Saturday 29th September.

If you could let Hannah know what you are donating on the email address below. We already have several volunteers thank you, however if you would like to get involved and can spare an hour or two to help out on the Saturday morning between 8am and 12.30pm please email [email protected]

School Quiz Night – Friday 12th October

We are planning a parents only quiz night with a fish and chip/veggie option supper for parents of all years in the school hall from 7pm on 12th October. Further information and an application form are attached with this newsletter – please apply by 1st October if you would like to attend. If you have any questions or are available to help with during the event please contact [email protected]

News from Mr Ramsey

Welcome

I am delighted to welcome all pupils, parents and staff to a new school year. Both GCSE and A Level students enjoyed considerable success this summer and I would like to congratulate them on their results.

At GCSE, Year 11 surpassed their demanding Attainment 8 target achieving 77% standard passes included English and Maths. I was delighted that 87% of pupils achieved a Grade 4 or above in English and 84% in Maths. Our data suggests that students made impressive progress and our estimated Progress 8 score is +0.24 which is above average.
I would also like to congratulate Year 10 who took their GCSE English Literature examination a Year early. We were delighted that 84% of pupils achieved a Level 4 or above. This is an excellent spring board for next summer’s GCSE examinations.

At A Level, 46% of the results were Grade A* to B and students were very successful in gaining the University places of their choice. Over 50% of places secured were at the most prestigious universities: Oxford, Cambridge, the Russell Group and former 1994 Group universities. I was also very pleased that our most recent Ofsted report, which we sent to you last term, was finally published on Thursday.
