Open School and Corridor Policy

The School is open to all students during break and lunch times, but it is everyone’s responsibility to maintain a calm and orderly atmosphere around our school

Students are allowed to use their own form room during break and lunch times, providing:

  • Students only use their own form room
  • Behaviour is calm and appropriate
  • Noise is kept to a minimum
  • Furniture, blinds and computers are left alone
  • The teacher’s desk is left untouched
  • There is no evidence of litter

Our expectation is that classrooms are left ready for lessons following break / lunch time. It is the responsibility of the Form Prefects to ensure the room is left completely tidy. Forms can expect to lose this privilege if rooms are misused.

Good behaviour in corridors is essential and creates a calm, orderly school. At Verulam we:

  • Walk rather than run
  • Keep to the left
  • Wait rather than push
  • Open / hold doors open for others
  • Keep mobile phones hidden
  • Eat only in the canteen, outside areas or in Form Rooms(Lunch only)
  • Use the bins provided

Our expectation is that students’ behaviour around the school would impress any visitor. Students can expect to be sanctioned should they not adhere to these expectations.
