Year 8 Religious Studies Revision Guide

About the Exam

The exam lasts 1 hour. You will need to attempt all questions.

Some questions will ask you to list/give a number of reasons. Make sure your reasons are distinct and that you are not repeating yourself. 1 reason usually equals 1 mark, so if the question asks for a list of five reasons, make sure you write five reasons.

Other questions will ask you to explain a key concept. You don’t need to write everything you know. Aim to use PEE paragraphs (Point, Evidence, Explain). Remember to use words like “because…” and “this means that…” or “this suggests that…”.

You will also be expected to explain what key religious objects are used for and to match key words, symbols or objects with their correct religion.
