Affinity Water and WaterAid Challenge Water update

Over the past few months Verulam STEM Club has been working closely with Affinity Water and WaterAid in the 2019 Challenge Water.  One of the important parts of the challenge is to help to raise money for WaterAid to help provide vital water and sanitation to people less fortunate than ourselves.

Today one in nine people are still living without clean water close to home and sanitation is also a growing issue. Our STEM club would like our school Community to help WaterAid to fund some of their vital projects.

  • On 3rd May, we are planning a “wear blue” non uniform day for years 7,8 and 9 for a minimum donation of £1.
  • On the same day we will be hosting a cake sale with a “blue” colour theme to match the colour of WaterAid.

We have also set up an online fundraising site to reach out to our extended Community to raise as much as we can to help WaterAid.  By way of example, a class of 30 students donating even the minimum amount to wear blue could raise enough money to provide handwashing stations for three families in Mozambique, improving hygiene and saving lives.

The form in every year group who raises the most money to help WaterAid will receive some prizes! We would also appreciate the donations of cakes or other “blue” sweet treats for our cake sale on 3rd May.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Maltings Art Prize 2019

Open to students from Year 7 to Year 11, the competition encourages students from St Albans schools to experiment within art, use traditional and contemporary methods, express their ideas and respond to a set theme.
