School Uniform

General Appearance

The school uniform detailed below is worn by all pupils in Years 7 to 11. With the complete support of our parents and the co-operation of the boys themselves, the uniform standard maintained is excellent. Hair styles conforming to guidelines published by the school and considered by us to be consistent with a smart overall appearance, and the lack of jewellery also help to produce the Verulam image we all strive to create. In the Sixth Form uniform regulations are relaxed but we still require male and female students to wear clothes which would be acceptable in a professional environment.

The uniform in Years 7 to 11 consists of: a navy blazer with badge; dark grey or black trousers of conventional cut; House tie; school pullover (ordinary grey v-necked pullover may also be worn); white or pale blue shirt with appropriate collar; black shoes suitable for formal wear; dark grey or black socks.

Summer Uniform

Pupils can wear normal full school uniform,

or a tailored short sleeved shirt – with a Verulam badge – this may be worn outside the trousers,

or a short sleeved shirt – without a Verulam badge – and a tie – if so shirt should be tucked in.

The Sixth Form should continue to wear shirts and ties but may dispense with jackets, female 6th Form students must maintain a high standard of business dress.

  • All pupils may continue to wear a tie if they wish.
  • Pupils may wear a blazer without wearing a tie.
  • Pupils may not wear hoodies, jackets or training shoes.

If the weather is cold pupils should return to wearing a blazer in order to keep warm.

For games and PE the kit required is: a school pattern rugby shirt; blue rugby shorts; school rugby socks; black football boots; blue gym vest; blue gym shorts and white gym shoes. For cricket, white shirts and white gym shoes are required; white trousers and cricket boots are needed only by boys in school teams. For swimming, trunks (not shorts) are required.
